What is RPSB?

RPSB or Regional Public Safety Battalion is the striking force of the Philippine National Police.  It is a non-territorial unit. It has different bases all over the country and its main objective is to eliminate the insurgency problem here in our country. An RPSB unit has different Coy (Company) and that company has set of platoons. The RPSB unit is being handled by the Battalion Commander and under him is his Deputy and different Company Commanders.

I am currently assigned as a rifleman in RPSB here in our region. We operate mountainous area nearby and sometimes we do checkpoints in our camp. Our uniform is different from the regular Police Officer that you can see on the streets. We wear BDU or Battle Dress Uniform that we sometimes call Camouflage Green. Before you can be assigned in RPSB, you should undergo the PNP SCOUT or Special Counter-Insurgency Operation Unit Training. The life that we have in RPSB is not normal since we are on strike anytime and in anyplace. Some of my mates are being augmented to Cateel, Davao Oriental to assist and secure the area where the Typhoon Pablo passes thru.

I have just come across your blog since I was trying to understand more about RPSB, happened to be interested since I have just found out one bestie of mine became part of it. Anyhows, please enlighten me more on that term "non-territorial unit" and pardon me for my ignorance. More power to you.
